Rage. Probably political rage. Maybe just personal rage. Lots of sarcasm and cynicism. Also pretty pictures.
If Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate, Representative Paul Ryan, were to win next month’s election, the harm to women’s reproductive rights would extend far beyond the borders of the United States.
In this country, they would support the recriminalization of abortion with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and they would limit access to contraception and other services. But they have also promised to promote policies abroad that would affect millions of women in the world’s poorest countries, where lack of access to contraception, prenatal care and competent help at childbirth often results in serious illness and thousands of deaths yearly. And the wreckage would begin on Day 1 of a Romney administration.
Romney completely unaware of what waiters and waitresses earn, calls them “middle class”
CBS News: “Addressing 300 contributors at a Jackson, Miss., fundraiser who paid $2,500, $10,000 or $50,000 to hear him speak, Romney acknowledged that the people in the room were well-off compared to many Americans. It was the middle class that had been let down by Obama, Romney said, and he pointed to the wait staff serving finger foods as an example:
“It’s tough being middle class in America right now… The waiters and waitresses that come in and out of this room and offer us refreshments, they’re not having a good year. The people of the middle class of America are really struggling. And they’re struggling I think in a way because they’re surprised because when they voted for Barack Obama…he promised them that things were going to get a heck a lot of better. He promised hope and change and they’re still waiting.”
We really are all the same to Mitt Romney. We’re the ones who serve him and his rich family and friends in thousands of ways daily, we’re the ones who sign the back of a paycheck, we’re the ones who scurry around doing our “jobs.” To Romney it doesn’t matter if a few bucks more or less per hour could change someones entire life for better or worse — all he sees are blobs of meat moving through space, serving finger food, while he collects millions at luncheons to spend on political attack ads.
There are only two classes in Mitt Romney’s world: those who attend his fund-raising lunches and everyone else (the middle class).

Mitt Romney fan defends freedom of speech … by shoving a handkerchief into union supporter’s mouth
So if you were protesting a Mitt Romney rally and some guy wearing a Romney button walked up to you and shoved a handkerchief into your mouth to get you to shut up, would you honestly have the self-discipline to calmly spit the handkerchief out and resume your protest? At one point, one of the protesters, Al Neal of Canton, 25, who said he was a union worker and a member of Fight for Fair Economy Ohio, was confronted by Richard Brysac, 77, of Parma.
Brysac attempted to quiet the protestor by emptying a bottle of water in Neal’s mouth.
“He seemed thirsty, so I tried to shove the bottle in his mouth,” Brysac said. “I thought it
was wrong to interfere with [Pawlenty’s] freedom of speech.
“I acted out of character and I apologize if I offended anyone.”
When the bottle didn’t work, Brysac pulled out his handkerchief and gagged Neal.
Neal removed the handkerchief and continued chanting with the other protestors until the group was escorted from the rally.
Neal’s response was absolutely perfect. He couldn’t have handled himself any better. But aside from Brysac’s silly nopology, will conservatives ever learn that they don’t have an exclusive monopoly on freedom of speech? Neal has the exact same freedom of speech that Tim Pawlenty or any other conservative has. And shoving a handkerchief in his mouth is no way to honor the First Amendment.
He wants another stimulus, he wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more fireman, more policeman, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.

With Romney Under Fire for Touting For-Profit Colleges, SEIU Launches Website for Beleaguered Students in Sector
Romney’s claims about the cost-effectiveness of the for-profit college industry, which has made significant donations to his campaign, are clearly at odds with reality, according to information on the website, www.ForProfitU.org . Tuition, debt loads, and loan default rates run far higher at for-profits than at traditional schools and the sector is disproportionately contributing to the nation’s student debt crisis. Despite the fact that approximately one in ten college students attend for-profits, nearly half of all federal student loan defaults occur there.
As The New York Times reported earlier this week, Romney received $2,500 from Todd S. Nelson, CEO of Education Management Corporation (EDMC). With some of the highest tuition rates in the industry, the 105 schools operated by EDMC—including The Art Institutes, Argosy University, Brown Mackie College, and South University—are highlighted on the site.
