Huh, What? Oh, there’s a link to the legislation? http://bit.ly/Klrawq
No independent research allowed from any other public entity.
So only folks allowed to “extrapolate sea level rise” is a state-appointed board of scientists of the NC Coastal Resources Commission. (I smell ethics issues and potential COIs.)
And rather than using state-of-the-science approved non-linear models which are appropriate for climate change extrapolation models due the fact that “each time the climate warms even a fraction of a degree, it has a major impact on the ocean’s current volume as well as ice cap melt rates,” they are required to use a linear model based on historical data. Completely INAPPROPRIATE and USELESS.
I’m almost looking forward to the day when, knee deep in water on the front porches of their Outer Banks mansions, these legislators will be forced to inform the ocean that it’s breaking the law.
